NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a second half run by Westminster as they fell 13-10 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Wednesday (April 5).
The Gators got on the board just over two minutes in when
Nick Gralewski (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) scored an unassisted goal. The score stayed that way until under the five minute mark of quarter when the Titans tied it up. Right before the clock hit zero in the frame,
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) scored off an assist by
Harrison Seabold (Silver Spring, Md./Barrie), tying the game at two.
Similar to the first quarter, the Gators found the back of the net early in the second.
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) scored off a pass from
CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory). However, the Titans answered with three straight goals to pull ahead, 5-3. A. D'Amato ended the Westminster run, scoring his second goal after dodging through a slew of Titan defenders. After another Westminster goal,
Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School) scored on the run, bringing the game back to one goal. With under a minute to play in the half, Gralewski found the back of the net for the second time, tying the game once again as the teams went to the locker room knotted at six.
After lightning delayed the start of the second half, the Titans scored four straight goals, moving ahead 10-6. After a timeout, Seabold broke up the Westminster run with an unassisted goal. The Titans would tack on one more goal late as they led 11-7 heading into the fourth.
Gideon Sullivan (Getzville, N.Y./Cathedral (Ind.)) notched the first goal of the fourth to cut the lead to 11-8. After a pair of Titan goals, A. D'Amato completed his hat trick but the Gators still trailed 13-9. In the closing minutes, Cushwa scored his second goal of the night, assisted by A. D'Amato, to cut the lead to three. However, the Gators were unable to find the back of the net again as they fell 13-10.
