MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team fired on all cylinders on Wednesday night, as the Gators took down Bethany College by a score of 19-6 under the lights on Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
The Gators (6-5, 2-1 PAC), who scored six of the game's first seven goals, turned a respectable 8-4 halftime lead into a rout in the third quarter. Allegheny outscored Bethany (5-6, 0-4 PAC) in the third, 8-1, matching its offensive output from the first two quarters combined.
The all-around impressive performance started at the faceoff dot, where
Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) led the Gators to a new program record. Allegheny won a single-game record 22 faceoffs, and Therkorn finished 15-of-18 with a game-high 11 ground balls.
Five of the 10 Gators who earned a point scored multiple goals.
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) paced all players with five goals and six points. Allegheny also received a trio of hat tricks from
Gideon Sullivan (Getzville, N.Y./Cathedral (Ind.)),
Nick Gralewski (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), and
Benjamin Gallegos (Lafayette, Colo./Dawson School).
Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake) rounded out the multi-point producers with a pair of markers.
