MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team and track and field program are set to begin postseason competition on Thursday, April 27.
The men's tennis team finished the 2023 regular season with an undefeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) record and clinched the No. 1 seed for the PAC Championships. After a first-round bye, the Gators will host fourth-seeded Franciscan University on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Prior to the match at the Robertson Athletic Complex, Allegheny will celebrate Senior Day to recognize
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton), the team's lone senior member.
Voted No. 1 in the PAC's preseason coaches' poll, the Gators enter the tournament with a 15-4 overall record (8-0 PAC). Allegheny 41-0 in singles matches against conference opponents, and has lost only one of 20 PAC doubles matches. When playing as the home team, Allegheny is undefeated, which includes three wins at the Robertson Tennis Complex.
The Gators are in search of the fifth conference championship in program history. Allegheny won its first PAC title in 1976, and then captured three in a row from 1980-82.
The Allegheny men's and women's track and field teams have combined for 22 previous outdoor championships, all during the College's run in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The most recent title was earned by the Gator women, who won it all in 2021.
For the 2023 PAC Outdoor Championships, Allegheny returns to the Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park, home of the West Virginia University Mountaineers. The Gators began the outdoor season in Morgantown, West Virginia, at the Stan Romanoski Open in mid-March.Â
Thursday's schedule begins at 4:00 p.m. with multiple field events, including the javelin, triple jump, and pole vault. Sprint prelims and the 10,000-meter race will also be held in the evening. For the full schedule of events,

The Gators enter the two-day meet as the favorite in a handful of events. Senior sprinter
Mihaela Toader (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) owns the top times in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, and fellow senior
Megan Aaron (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) is the top seed in the 10,000-meter race. On the men's the side,
Jacob Boord (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) leads all PAC throwers in the javelin, and
Peter Lantz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) has the best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
