Gators Win Senior Day Game Against Grove City

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a 19-7 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory against Grove City Saturday (April 22).

Before the game, the Gators honored their five senior members: Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy), Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton), Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), Raina Semenick (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) and Molly Wojcik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton).

The Gators scored in the opening minute as Perelman converted a free-position opportunity. After a Wolverine goal, Perelman converted another free-position opportunity. Grove City would tie it at two, but the Gators scored the final two goals of the quarter. Kennedy Kyle (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) put the Gators back in front off an assist by Baginski while Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton La Salle) made it 4-2 off an assist by Baginski.

The run increased to 4-0 before the Wolverines got back on the board in the second quarter. Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) scored both of those goals with Perelman assisting on both. Grove CIty scored three of the next four goals, with Perelman scoring the Gator goal on another free-position opportunity. The Gators ended the half on a high note, tallying the final three goals. Baginski scored off a pass from Caragein before assisting on an Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) goal. Petrarca scored the last goal of the half on a late free-position shot, making it 10-5 at half.

The Gators scored five straight goals to start the third quarter. Perelman was responsible for three of them while Dolan, assisted by Kyle, and Baginski scored the other two. A late Grove City goal brought the lead down to 15-6 heading into the final frame.

Allegheny continued to roll into the fourth. Amato scored on an Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) assist for the first goal of the fourth. Baginski scored the next one, assisted by Perelman, before assisting a Herrold goal. Grove City tallied a late goal but it was not enough to overcome the lead.
