Women's Tennis Earns 8-1 Victory vs. D-II Clarion

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- In the final home match of the 2022-23 season on Thursday evening, the Allegheny College women's tennis team defeated Division II Clarion University, 8-1, at the Robertson Tennis Complex.

With the win, the Gators (18-3) finish the home portion of their schedule with a perfect 12-0 record.

Allegheny swept all three doubles match, including an 8-4 win at the No. 3 position by Allison Riley (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) and Sophia Mita (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), who played together for the first time this season.

Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic) highlighted Allegheny's singles wins, as the senior did not drop any games to Clarion's Davan Lion in a 6-0, 6-0 victory. On the opposite end of the lineup, junior Lauren Passarelli (Eria, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) earned her first singles win of the year against the Golden Eagles (0-10).
