MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team earned two wins over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents on Saturday, as the Gators swept Thiel College in the morning and Washington and Jefferson College in the afternoon on the blue courts inside the David V. Wise Center.

Against the Tomcats (3-10), several new faces stepped into the lineup and helped the Gators (17-3) secure the clean sweep. Lauren Passarelli (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), Athena Drollas (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell), and Madelyn Harrington (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) each secured their first doubles wins of the 2022-23 season, with Drollas and Harrington teaming up for an 8-3 win in the No. 3 spot. 

Allegheny carried the momentum into the second half of the doubleheader. The Gators won four of their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, but needed a three-set victory at the No. 1 position from Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) to finish with the 9-0 match victory. Despite falling in the opening set, 7-5, Legrand rallied in sets two and three to defeat Nidhi Pulicherla.
