No. 18/23-Ranked Kenyon Defeats Women's Lacrosse

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team fell to undefeated and nationally-ranked Kenyon College, 19-5, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls (9-0), who were ranked 18th in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll and 23rd in the ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25, used a seven-goal run in the first half to pull away from the Gators (7-3). 

Goals from Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) and Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) had the Gators within two of the Owls at 4-2 midway through the first quarter. Kenyon then netted the next seven markers, before Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) halted the run with back-to-back tallies near the end of the second quarter. 

Down 12-4, Allegheny was held off the scoreboard in the third quarter, as the Owls closed out the win on their home turf.

  • Allegheny was held to 14 total shots and 11 shots on goal.
  • Kenyon attempted 38 shots and put 30 on target.
  • The Owls also finished with more draw controls, 17-to-9, and more ground balls, 22-to-17.
  • Perelman led all Gators with a hat trick.
  • Petrarca and Dolan each scored once.
  • Dolan also picked up a team-high four ground balls and tied Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) for the team lead with three draw controls.
  • In goal, Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) made 11 saves for Allegheny.
  • Julia Losey (4g) and Caroline O'Neil (3g-1a) led all scorers with a game-high four points for Kenyon.

News and Notes
  • The Gators are now 7-3 overall, while the Owls improved to 9-0.
  • Saturday's matchup was Allegheny's first against a ranked opponent since facing No. 21 Denison University on April 2, 2022.
  • Perelman finished with three-plus goals in a game for the eighth time this season.
  • Petrarca has scored at least once in all 10 games this spring, too.
