HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Allegheny women's tennis team was defeated by Sweet Briar 9-0 on Tuesday (March 7) during their trip to the PTR Spring Break Fest in Hilton Head, S.C.
 
The loss was just the second of the season for the Gators.
 
At first doubles, Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic) and Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) fell in a close match by an 8-5 score.
 
Swan fell to Ruth de Souza, who is currently ranked 15th in the Atlantic South Region, at first singles.
 
Legrand also had a close match at second singles, winning six games but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-4.
