MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team continued Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 20-2 win against Waynesburg Wednesday (March 29).
The game was shortened to three quarters due to snowy conditions in Meadville.
The Gators scored about 90 seconds in and did not look back. They tallied 12 goals in the opening first quarter while adding five in the second and three in the third. The Yellow Jacket goals both came in the first quarter.
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) led the Gators with six points on two goals and four assists.
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) was second on the team with five points on two goals and three assists.
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) had a hat trick with an assist.
Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton La Salle) also netted a hat trick.
Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) had two goals and an assist while
Elaina Ginsberg (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) had two assists and a goal, the first points of her career.
Kennedy Kyle (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) had a goal and an assist.
Sybi Gerhart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico),
Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley),
Amelia Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny),
Jenna Cassani (Belgrade, Maine/Messalonskee) and
Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) also found the back of the net.
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) picked up the win in net.
Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) played the final quarter.
Inside the Box
- In addition to scoring a goal, Gerhart had a career-high six groundballs while causing three turnovers.
- Amato collected five draw controls.
- The Gators outshot the Yellow Jackets 29-2 and went 4-4 on clears.
- Allegheny won 19 draw controls to Waynesburg's four.
