STOW, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to No. 12 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University, 9-0, at the LaTuchie Tennis Center on Sunday.
Despite the loss, the Gators (15-3) put up a few good fights against the ranked Spartans (11-3).
The third doubles tandem of
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical) and
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) dropped the first three points of their match against Shreya Ramani and Asha Shukla. However, Rodridguez and Lounder battled back to come within a point of the lead on a few occasions in an eventual 8-5 loss.
At No. 2 singles,
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) rebounded from a 3-0 deficit in the first set to even the score at 6-6, which forced a seven-point tiebreaker against Ramani. Legrand won the first point of the tiebreaker, before Ramani secured a 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory.
