Gators open PAC play with 22-10 win against Thiel

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 22-10 win at home against Thiel Saturday (March 25).
 
The Gators scored less than two minutes in and never looked back. They outscored the Tomcats in every frame except the third quarter and owned a 16-4 lead at halftime. In total, seven different Gators scored a goal while eight registered a point.
 
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) led the way for the Gators as she netted a career-high eight goals. The senior also assisted on two goals to finish with 10 points. 
 
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) tied her career-high with eight points, coming on six goals and two assists.
 
Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and an assist while also leading the team with a season-high nine draw controls.
 
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) also scored two goals apiece while Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) and Raina Semenick (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) had one each. For Semenick, it marked her first career goal. Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) rounded out the Gator point scorer's with an assist.
 
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) earned the win in net, making three saves in the first half. Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) played the second half in goal, making a save.
 
Inside the Box
  • Molly Wojcik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton), Perelman, Cox and Dolan shared the team-high with three groundballs apiece.
  • Amato finished with a career-high seven draw controls.
  • Six different Gators caused a turnover.
  • Perelman had a career-high eight goals.
  • Petrarca tied a career-high with eight points.
  • Five Gators' registered a multi-point performance.
  • The Gators outshot the Tomcats 37-15 and owned a 19-14 advantage in groundballs.
