ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of 2023 as they fell on the road at Mount Union, 16-7, Saturday (March 18).
The Gators got on the board in the opening minute when
Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) found the back of the net fifty seconds in. Five minutes later, the Gators doubled their lead as
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) also scored unassisted. The Raiders were quick to respond, scoring two goals in a 90 second span to tie the game. Perelman put Allegheny back in front on a free-position goal.
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) made it a two goal game once more on her own free-position goal. In the closing seconds of the opening frame, Mount Union took advantage of an Allegheny penalty to cut the lead to 4-3.
The momentum from the late goal carried over to the next quarter as the Raiders scored the first five goals of the second to move ahead, 8-4. In the final minute,
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) scored to narrow the gap to three, but the Gators still trailed 8-5 at halftime.
Perelman completed a hat trick on a free-position attempt to cut the lead to 8-6 to start the second half. However, the Raiders would answer with five straight goals in the quarter as they led 13-6 heading into the final frame.
Mount Union's lead grew to 16-6 in the fourth. Perelman would score the fourth time late, but it was not enough as the Gators fell on the road.

- Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) caused four turnovers, leading the team.
- Sybi Gerhart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) led the team with four groundballs while Amelia Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) had two.
- Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) made 10 saves in net.
