MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) chose a pair of Mt. Lebanon High School graduates,
Mihaela Toader (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and Cade Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon (Pa.)), as February's Athletes of the Month.
Both are repeat winners, as Toader previously won in December, and Hinckley was recognized in November and January.
Toader had a busy February tearing up the track. She won four races and set three program records. The speedy senior won the 400-meter dash at the Jim Wuske Invitational, the Penn State Tune-Up, and the 2022-23 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships. She also captured gold in the 200-meter dash at the PAC Indoor Championships, where she received four All-PAC accolades and helped the Gators win the team championship. Toader set new indoor school records in the 60-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes in February.
On the hardwood, Hinckley led the men's basketball team on a memorable run to the 2022-23 PAC Championship Tournament title game. Allegheny hosted the championship in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena inside the David V. Wise Center. Hinckley averaged 14.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game in eight games in February. He reached double-digit points in all eight contests with four double-double performances, and was included on the PAC All-Tournament Team.
