OBERLIN, Ohio – Senior Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) reached the 100 career goal mark Saturday (Feb. 25) as the Allegheny women's lacrosse team opened their 2023 campaign with a 14-4 victory on the road against Oberlin.
Perelman reached the career mark early in the fourth quarter. Finding the back of the net for the fourth time of the afternoon, Perelman became the 12th Gator to score 100 career goals.
The Gators got out to a fast start as they gained a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Perelman struck first, two-and-a-half minutes in, on an unassisted goal. About thirty seconds later, Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) made it 2-0. Perelman scored her second goal of the game on a free-position opportunity before Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal), assisted by Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton), closed out scoring in the frame.
In the second, each side scored twice. Herrold found the back of the net on a free-position shot while Perelman tallied her third goal of the afternoon.
Allegheny tacked on two goals in the third quarter. Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) scored on a free-position before Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) made it 8-2 off an assist by Kennedy Kyle (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley).
The Gators ended the game by outscoring the Yeowomen 6-2 in the final quarter. Perelman and Petrarca scored twice in the frame while Kyle and Baginski also tallied a goal.
