Volleyball Ends Regular Season with Sweep of Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team closed out their regular season with a road sweep of Waynesburg Saturday (Nov. 4) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

The Gators captured the sets 25-23, 25-23, 25-11.

After some back-and-forth action to start, the Yellow Jackets went on a 4-0 run to move ahead 15-10 in the opening set. After a timeout, the Gators went on their own run to tie it at 16 apiece. The teams continued to trade points until Waynesburg owned a 23-22 lead. However, the Gators ended the set on a 3-0 run with kills by Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek), Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) and Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren).

The second set played out like the opening set with Waynesburg taking a lead midway through before the Gators tied it back up. Notched at 23 apiece, a service error followed by a Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) kill gave the Gators their second 25-23 set win.

The third set saw an aggressive start by the Gators. Utilizing runs of 6-0 and 4-0 early on, they gained an 11-4 lead.  Allegheny rode that advantage to the end, taking the set 25-11 to end the match.
