MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving team took on Division II PennWest Edinboro on Saturday afternoon in the final home meet of the fall semester. The Fighting Scots earned the victory by a final score of 110-56 inside the Mellon Pool.
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led the Gators with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle. Her time of 2:03.16 was 1.32 seconds better than the runner-up, Edinboro's Baila Bugara, and was a season-best for the Allegheny senior. Her second-place finish at 55.72 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle was only 15-hundredths of a second shy of her season-best.
In the 500-yard freestyle,
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy) set a new season record of her own. She finished the distance event in 5:40.19, more than three seconds better than her time from the dual meet against Grove City College on October 21.
First-year swimmer
Mary Evans (Rochester, N.Y./Arcadia) had either a season or personal best in each of her three races. Both Evans (1:15.71) and
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) (1:15.95) logged personal-record times in the 100-yard backstroke.
The only Gator in the 200-yard butterfly,
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) turned in a season-best time of 2:34.1, as she cut more than seven seconds off of her performance from last week's meet against Saint Vincent College.
Leah Frase (Madison, Ohio/Madison), who was third behind Reiter in the 50-yard freestyle, also recorded a season-best with a time of 29.33 seconds.
