MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team swept Washington and Jefferson in a key Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Senior Night Wednesday (Nov. 1).
The Gators won the sets 25-16, 25-18, 25-11.
Before the match, the Gators honored their two seniors,
Leah Ungashick (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) and
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek).
The Gators grabbed an early advantage in the match, jumping out to a 9-2 lead. The Presidents made up some ground but another Allegheny run made it to 16-9, bringing about a timeout. Washington and Jefferson continued to keep it close, but the Gators closed out the set, 25-16.
Allegheny led from the get-go in the second set. Up 13-10, the Gators went on a 7-0 run to establish firm control. The Presidents had a late comeback fall short in the set as the Gators moved to 2-0 in the match with a 25-18 win.
The third set saw a 9-0 run by the Gators to open. That advantage grew to as much as 14 at the end as the Gators won the set and the match.

- Chambers led the Gators with 10 kills.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) was second on the team with eight kills while also tallying 11 digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had seven kills and five blocks.
- Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) contributed six kills.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 18 assists, 14 digs and five aces.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) added nine assists.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 25 digs while also serving four aces.
- Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) had nine digs.
- Ungashick had four digs and a pair of assists.
- Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) added three blocks.

- Allegheny is now 20-8 on the season and 7-2 in PAC play.
- The Gators are now 8-7 all-time against the Presidents.
- 20 wins is the most in the season for the Gators since they won 28 in 2003.
