MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny volleyball coach Kelly Barzak collected her 100th career win as the Gators defeated Franciscan in straight sets Saturday (Oct. 21) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
 
The Gators won the sets 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.
 
The win marked the 100th for Barzak, with 71 of them coming at Allegheny and 29 at Thiel.
 
The Barons gained a 7-2 lead in the opening set, but the Gators quickly rebounded to tie it at 10. The set remained close until late, when the Gators ended the set on an 8-1 run, taking it 
25-18.
 
The momentum carried over to the second set as Allegheny gained a 7-3 lead. Later in the set, the Gators started to pull away with an 8-2 run, moving their advantage to 19-11 before a Franciscan timeout. They rode that lead to the end, taking the set 25-19.
 
Once again, the Gators had the early advantage in the third set. The Barons brought the game within a point at 13-12, but the Gators utilized a 4-0 run to regain control, eventually winning the set 25-17 to wrap-up the conference win.
 
Inside the Box

• Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) had 14 kills with seven digs and three blocks.
• Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) also finished with 14 kills.
• Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) and Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had six kills apiece while combining for nine blocks.
• Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 23 assists while Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) tallied 12. Gray also had nine digs.
• Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 17 digs to go alongside three aces.

• The Gators are now 4-1 all-time against the Barons.
• For the season, Allegheny is 18-8 and 5-2 in PAC play.
• Barzak won her 100th career game, with 71 victories at the helm of Allegheny at 29 at Thiel.
• 18 wins marks the most in the season for the Gators since they won the same amount in 2015.
