Women’s Soccer Drops Road Game at Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny women's soccer team fell on the road to Franciscan 3-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday (Oct. 21).
 
Franciscan controlled the pace in the opening half, putting five shots on target. However, Kari May (Erie, Pa./McDowell) stepped up and made stops on all five attempts as the game was scoreless at the half.
 
The Barons broke through in the 54th minute with Juliana Rubino scoring on a low shot to take the lead. Franciscan extended their lead a minute later when Tania Davidson found the back of the net. The Barons scored the final goal of the game in the 82nd minute when Elise Winogradoff scored.
 
The Gators had a couple of chances in the second half. Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) and Avarie Schott (San Antonio, Texas/Louis D. Brandeis) had shots on goal, but both were turned away.

  • Franciscan scored goals in the 54th minute, 55th and 82nd minute.
  • Surdykowski and Schott had shots on goal for the Gators.
  • Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) had two shots while Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) added one.
  • May finished the game with nine saves. 
News and Notes
  • The game marked just the second meeting between the two teams, with the Barons winning both.
