WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny women's swimming and diving team competed in a road tri-meet against Washington and Jefferson and Division II Wheeling Friday night (Oct. 20).
 
The Gators defeated Washington and Jefferson by a close 114-113 margin, but fell to the Cardinals 138-94.
 
Overall, the Gators won five events.
 
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led the team with two individual first-place finishes. She captured the 50 freestyle in 24.84 and the 100 freestyle in 55.57. Kraus also finished second in the 100 individual medley.
 
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./AIM Academy) also had a solid outing for the Gators. Pryschchenko won the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.62 while carding a second-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle and a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke.
 
Josephine Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) had the fourth individual win for the Gators, taking the 50 breaststroke with a time of 33.71. Reiter also took second in the 100 breaststroke.
 
Anna Kohler (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) had a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly and a fourth-place finish in the 50 butterfly.
 
Mary Evans (Rochester, N.Y./Arcadia) took third in the 200 and 500 freestyles while Leah Frase (Madison, Ohio/Madison) finished fifth in the 1,000 freestyle, 50 and 100 breaststrokes.
 
The Gators wrapped up the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Reiter, Kohler, Pryshchenko and Kraus finished with a time of 1:45.25.
