MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team wrapped up the home portion of their regular season with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Saint Vincent Wednesday (Oct. 18).
The Gators held the advantage in the opening half, putting six shots on goal compared to just two by the Bearcats. However, neither team were able to put it in the back of the net as they went to the locker room scoreless.
The scoreless drought carried into late in the second half, as each team earned chances but neither were able to convert.
Henry Rosenberg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice) and
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) had opportunities in the closing minutes on the same sequence, but both attempts were turned by the Bearcat goalkeeper.
Allegheny's persistence finally paid off in the 89th minute. With just over a minute left to play,
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) had a shot blocked in the box. The blocked shot found the foot of
Aidan Dyga (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny). Dyga pushed the ball towards the goal line and it trickled just over it for the game winning goal.

- Dyga scored the game winner in the 89th minute off an assist by Napoleon.
- Allegheny held the advantage in shots, 23-9, and corners, 7-5.
- Napoleon led the Gators in shots on goal with three while Gruca and Dyga had two apiece.
- Caleb Kendra (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) earned the clean sheet in goal, making three saves.
