Offense Shines in 5-0 Win Against Chatham

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team erupted for five goals as they defeated Chatham 5-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday (Oct. 14).

The Gators got on the board early. Julieta Schworm (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) crossed the ball across the box to Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus), who buried it into the back of the net. The goal was Bender's fourth of the season.

The lead stayed that way until the 34th minute. On a free kick from near midfield, Elle Carpenter's (Waco, Texas/Midway) kick went off the far post and bounced in, making it 2-0 at halftime. That goal marked Carpenter's second of the year.

Allegheny extended their lead midway through the second half. Within a three minute span, Bender connected with Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) for a pair of goals. The two goals marked the first for Surdykowski in her first year.

The final goal for the Blue and Gold came in the 83rd minute. A corner kick by Bender went to Surdykowski over to Beatrice Foley (Toronto, Ont./Humberside Collegiate) for the final tally of the game. The goal was the first in Foley's career.
