LATROBE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team went on the road to defeat Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Saint Vincent in straight sets Thursday (Oct. 12).
Allegheny won the sets 25-15, 25-20, 27-25.
The Gators got out of the gates fast, winning the first seven points of the match. That lead grew to as much as 13 over the course of the set and
Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) tallied four aces as they won it 25-15.
It was the Bearcats that jumped out to an early lead in the second set, taking the first four points. After a timeout, the Gators rebounded and tied the set at eight. The teams continued to trade points back-and-forth before Saint Vincent moved ahead, 17-13. Once more, the Gators rattled off a run that tied the set at 17. Knotted at 20, the Gators closed out the set on a 5-0 run to move ahead in the match, 2-0.
Similar to the second set, the Bearcats gained the early advantage and eventually grew the lead to 18-13. The Gators bounced back, going on a 6-1 run to tie the match at 19. The teams continued to trade points until they found themselves tied at 25. An attack error by the Bearcats gave the Gators a match point.
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) closed the match and sealed the conference victory with a kill, 27-25.

- Chambers led the team with 12 kills.
- Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) was second on the team with eight kills.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) had seven kills and 11 digs while Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had seven kills and five digs.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 17 assists while Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 15.
- Akbas had four aces while Bawek and Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) had three apiece.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 25 digs, her most in a three-set match this season.

- The Gators moved to 15-7 overall and 3-1 in PAC action.
- Allegheny is now 6-7 all-time against Saint Vincent.
