Brettell, Dyga Score in Win at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team collected a 2-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road victory at Grove City Wednesday (Oct. 10).

The Gators struck first, scoring a goal in the 24th minute. Cam Kaminski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day) touched a pass from the far sideline to Gunnar Brettell (Steubenville, Ohio/Indian Creek) right on the edge of the goalie box. Brettell did not waste any time, shooting on the first touch to the bottom corner of the net past the outstretched hands of the goalie.  The goal, which was Brettell's third of the season, was the lone tally of the opening 45 minutes.

The score stayed that way until the 79th minute. A Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) corner found Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) on the far side of the box. Napoleon headed it across the box to Aidan Dyga (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) who buried it into the back of the net, making it 2-0. The goal was Dyga's first.

Grove City would answer with a goal a minute later to cut the lead back to one. However, the Wolverine goal was not enough as the Gators defense held strong for the conference win.
