MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the fourth consecutive match - and the fourth time in five Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contests - the Allegheny College women's tennis team blanked the opposition.Â
On Thursday evening, the Gators (8-0, 5-0 PAC) defeated Washington and Jefferson College (1-6, 1-5 PAC) by a 9-0 final score at the Robertson Tennis Complex.
Head coach
Dave Hayden slightly altered the lineup against the Presidents to provide a few Gators with valuable experience in a higher-seeded match. Teaming up with first-year standout
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) for the No. 2 doubles match was
Taylor Hayes (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community), who earned her first win of the season in the second position.
On the singles courts,
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) moved up one spot to No. 2 after going 7-0 at No. 3. She faced little resistance on her way to a 6-2, 6-2 sweep of Bella Goldman. Likewise,
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical) won her first match in the third singles position by the same score. Lounder, a former PAC Rookie of the Week honoree, was successful against Washington and Jefferson's Jaelyn Kennedy in the fourth flight. She dropped just one set en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
