MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team improved to 6-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Tennis Complex, as the Gators won a 9-0 decision over Westminster College on Senior Day.
Prior to the match, AC's four seniors -
Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic),Â
Tiaralei Cade (Lakenheath, England/Lakenheath American),
Taylor Hayes (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community), and
Katherine Marks (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian) - were recognized for their contributions to the program over the past four years.
On the court, the Gators (9-0, 6-0 PAC) once again illustrated why they were chosen as the No. 1 team in the conference in the preseason coaches poll. In third doubles,
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical) partnered with Hayes for a flawless 8-0 victory, while the tandem of
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) and Marks lost only one game at No. 2 doubles.
Marks and Swan earned wins at first and second singles, respectively, to complete their senior-day sweeps. Swan's match against Emma Sukal was the closest of the day, as the native Nashvillian defeated Sukal, 6-3, 6-4.
