MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team won their ninth game of the season, and fifth straight, as they defeated Washington and Jefferson 3-1 Wednesday (Sept. 28) in Meadville.
The Gators improved to 9-1 on the season, setting a new season win record for the program.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Gators struck twice in the second.
Kelsey Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) tapped in a pass from
Emily Robles (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) just over four minutes into the frame. Just two minutes later, Anderson got past the Washington and Jefferson defenders on the near side of the field and connected with
Debbie Nalesnik (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) on the far post for the finish.
The Presidents made up a goal in third as they scored early in the quarter, cutting the lead to 2-1.
The Allegheny advantage went back to two goals less than 60 seconds into the final frame.
Maya Francisco (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day School) capitalized on a loose ball in front of the net for the Gators' third goal of the game.

Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady), who made five stops in the fourth quarter, to preserve the win.
