MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team picked up their second win of the weekend, and improved to 8-1 this season, as they defeated Concordia (Wis.), 4-1, Sunday morning (Sept. 25) at home during Blue & Gold Weekend.
The Gators got on the board midway through the opening quarter. Off a penalty corner,
Debbie Nalesnik (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) set up
Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Day School) in front of the net for the game's first goal.
Just 90 seconds into the second half, the Gators increased their lead to 2-0. Once again on a penalty corner,
Emily Robles (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) put a shot on goal that was turned away. However,
Maya Francisco (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day) knocked the rebound back to Robles, whose second chance shot found the back of the net.
The lead grew to 3-0 minutes later off a corner once again.
Molly Miller (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) passed the ball through the crease to Nalesnik, who redirected it into the goal.
Hana Miller (Willards, Md./Worcester Preparatory School) made it 4-0 as she drove through the defense for an unassisted goal early in the fourth quarter. The Falcons scored in the final two minutes on a penalty stroke, but it was not enough to overcome the Allegheny advantage.
