Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Setback at Fredonia State

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Allegheny College women's soccer suffered a 2-0 non-conference loss on the road Tuesday night against the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

The two sides played a scoreless contest until the 37th minute. A foul assessed inside the box gave the Blue Devils (2-2-1) a penalty kick, which Fredonia State's Jordan Barrett converted. Looking to even the score entering the break, Natasha Rosa (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) nearly made up for the foul in the 42nd minute, but her shot was denied by goalie Sabrina Suriani.

Less than a minute into the second half, Fredonia extended its lead to 2-0, but Allegheny keeper Kari May (Erie, Pa./McDowell) made a handful of key saves to keep the Gators within striking distance. May faced eight shots between the 52nd and 63rd minutes and stopped all three on target.

The Gators were limited to four shots in the final 31 minutes of action but were unable to put any of them into the back of the net.

Inside the Box
  • Allegheny registered eight total shots, four of which ended up on goal.
  • The Blue Devils finished with 22 shots, including the go-ahead penalty kick.
  • Corners were also in Fredonia's favor, 8-to-4.
  • Rosa accounted for two of Allegheny's shots, a team-high.
  • May logged a game-high eight saves in goal.
