Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball concludes play at Purple and White Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Allegheny volleyball team concluded play at the Purple and White Invitational, hosted by Mount Union, Saturday (Sept. 10).
 
The Gators fell by 3-0 scores to Muskingum and Marietta.
 
Muskingum 3, Allegheny 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-12)
 
In their first game of the day, the Gators fell to Muskingum 3-0. India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davis) led the Gators with seven kills. Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) and Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) had six kills apiece. Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 17 assists.
 
Defensively, Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the Gators with 18 digs while Wilson and Robare had eight. Crum, Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) and Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) all had a solo block.
 
Marietta 3, Allegheny 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16)
 
The Gators fell 3-0 to Marietta to conclude the two day invitational. Crum and McCruter had six kills apiece to lead the team while Javes registered five. Robare once again led the team with 11 assists. 
 
Wilson led the Gators with eight digs while Diaz had seven. Wilson, McCruter and Lubold each had a solo block.
 
Inside the Box vs. Muskingum
  • In addition to her 18 digs, Diaz served three aces.
  • As a team, the Gators combined for six aces.
  • The opening set featured 13 lead changes.
 
Inside the Box vs Marietta
  • Wilson and Robare tallied an ace apiece.
  • Javes had a .385 hitting percentage with five kills in 13 attempts.
  • Leah Ungashick (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) had eight assists.
 
News and Notes
  • The Gators fall to 3-6 on the season.
  • Allegheny is now 3-20 all-time against Muskingum and 5-8 all-time against Marietta.
  • Diaz was named to the All-Tournament Team after accumulating 54 digs in the four games.
