MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team fell to perennial North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contender Ohio Wesleyan at home, 16-6, on Saturday.
After the Battling Bishops gained a 3-0 lead,
Colin Deubell (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 3-1. Ohio Wesleyan added one more goal in the opening quarter to take a 4-1 lead into the second.
Benjamin Gallegos (Lafayette, Colo./Dawson School) scored the first goal of the second quarter off an assist from
Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School). However, the Battling Bishops ended the half on a 4-0 run as they led 8-2 at the half.
Deubell found the back of the net for the second time late in the third quarter but the Battling Bishops outscored the Gators 3-1 in the frame.
Ohio Wesleyan scored first in the fourth but the Gators responded with a 3-0 run.
Graham Nash (Innisfil, Ont./Nantyr Shores) scored off an assist from
Konrad Homiak (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail) before assisting on a
Harrison Seabold (Silver Spring, Md./Barrie) strike. Gallegos ended the run with his second goal of the contest from a Deubell assist. Battling Bishops outscored the Gators 4-0 down the stretch to hold on for the win.
The Gators stay in Meadville Tuesday (April 12) when they host Hiram in NCAC play. Game time is set for 7 pm.
