Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Gators move to 2-2 in the NCAC with 13-2 win over Terriers

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team moved to an even 2-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) with a 13-2 win over Hiram at Frank B. Fuhrer Field on Tuesday night (April 12).

The Gators found the back of the net first as CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) assisted a goal from Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla/East Lake). Graniel would then score the second goal of the opening frame minutes later as Allegheny led 2-0 after 15 minutes.

After almost 15 minutes of the scoreless play, the Gators struck twice in an 18 second span. Cimillo scored his second goal of the game at the 9:37 mark before Garrett Danielson (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) won the ground ball on the ensuing face-off, leading to a Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) goal off a Konrad Homiak (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail) assist. Schellbach and Cushwa, assisted by Cimillo, tallied goals in the final two minutes to push the lead to 6-0 at the half.

Schellbach scored the lone Gator goal of the third, sandwiched between a pair of Hiram goals.

Graham Nash (Innisfil, Ont./Nantyr Shores) scored just 28 seconds into the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 8-2. Just 33 seconds later, Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) found paydirt, unassisted. Cimillo would complete his hat trick minutes later as the Gators started to pull away.

In the final minutes, Therkorn and Nash scored their second goals and Cimillo his fourth, as the Gators secured the win.

Eric Mirkovich (York, Pa./York Central) picked up the win in net, making eight stops.

Allegheny outshot Hiram, 51-22, and won the turnover battle, 33-17, while also holding Hiram to just 17-of-27 on clear attempts. Cimillo's five points and four goals both marked career highs.

Ryan Mantione (East Northport, N.Y./John Glenn) and Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) each paced the Gators with four ground balls, with Demarco winning 7-of-12 face-offs.

The Blue & Gold will travel to Springfield, Ohio and Wittenberg for the first time in program history on Saturday, April 16. Face-off against the Tigers is set for 1 p.m.
