Tigers upend Gators in NCAC play, 13-6

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team hit the road for a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match at Wittenberg, falling to the Tigers by an eventual 13-6 count.

Logan Sharp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) scored at the 5:10 mark of the first quarter to make it a 2-1 Wittenberg advantage, but the Tigers would go on to score the next 10 goals to open up a 12-1 lead. Allegheny would respond with five consecutive tallies, getting within 12-6, but could not overcome the deficit.

Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) registered a hat trick, his third in the last five games, to lead the Gators. Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) added a pair of goals of his own, with Sharp adding the other marker. Cushwa and Sharp led the team with five and four shots, respectively, while Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake) and Sharp added three each.

Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) paced the Gators with five ground balls and a game-best four caused turnovers, with Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) picking up four GBs.

Eric Mirkovich (York, Pa./York Central) had 14 saves, his fifth time in double digits this season.

The Gators will continue NCAC action with a 7 p.m. match at Oberlin on Wednesday, April 20.
