MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny softball team returned to action Friday (April 15) as it faced ninth-ranked DePauw, dropping the pair 7-0 and 12-1.
In game one, the Tigers plated three runs apiece in the second and sixth innings while tallying an additional run in the third and holding the Gators off the board.
Paige Ziggas (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) and
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) registered hits for the Gators.
In game two, the Tigers built an early lead in the first and never looked back.
Sophia Godzak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth that brought home pinch-runner
Audrey Blarr (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) for the Gators' lone run.
Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) struck out six in relief. Ziggas,
Joplin Osgood (Coudersport, Pa./Coudersport) and Godzak provided the hits for Allegheny.
Allegheny is scheduled to host Oberlin at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, April 16 in another North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) doubleheader.
