MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's lacrosse team fell 16-5 to Kenyon on Saturday (March 26) in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup.
The loss ended the Blue and Gold's longest season-opening winning streak since winning 10 straight from Feb. 22 to April 1 of the 2014 season.
Kenyon garnered 11 goals in the first two periods to distance itself from the Gators. Nevertheless, Allegheny bounced back in the second half and limited the Ladies to five goals.
The Blue and Gold received three goals from
Senna Perelman (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) and two goals from
Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) on the day. Meanwhile,
Mary Allen (Victor, N.Y./Victor) collected a team-high two ground balls.
Defensively, Allen along with
Sybi Gerhart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) each provided two caused turnovers on the day. Additionally, the Gators were 14-for-16 in clear attempts in the contest. In goal,
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, MD./Centennial) spent the majority of the game in front of the net and racked up 14 saves.
Allegheny is scheduled to host Grove City for a nonconference matchup on Monday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m.
