MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's lacrosse team dropped its first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match of the season 15-4 to Kenyon on Saturday (March 26).
Kenyon took an early lead after scoring six goals in the first period. However, Allegheny played a tighter ballgame and did not trail by more than two in each of the last three frames.
The Gators' four goals came from
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) and
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland). The pair each found the back of the cage twice and provided one another with an assist.
Andrew Myers (Mars, Pa./North Allegheny) also had an assist on Cushwa's second goal.
Other contributors included
Dillon D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland and
Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls). The former issued five of the eight caused turnovers in the contest. Additionally, he collected a team-high four ground balls with his younger brother right behind him with three on the day. Meanwhile, DeMarco won three of his seven faceoffs opportunities.
In goal,
David Kratzenberg (Latrobe, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) stopped 50 percent of the shots on goal and picked up a career-best 15 saves.
Allegheny will return to action against Saint Vincent. The matchup, which was originally postponed on March 12, will be played in Meadville this Tuesday, March 29 at 7 p.m.
