LEESBURG, Fla. – The Allegheny softball team continued their 2022 trip to the Spring Games in Florida as they faced Keuka and Gustavus Adolphus Sunday (March 20).

Allegheny swept the day, defeating Keuka 20-3 before battling past Gustavus Adolphus 7-0.

GAME ONE - Allegheny 20, Keuka 3

The Gator offense produced 18 runs over the first three innings, and had the first eight hitters safely reach base. Overall, eight players had at least one hit.

The 20 runs were the most in a game since they defeated the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 26-2 on March 16, 2009.

Joplin Osgood (Coudersport, Pa./Coudersport) led the Gators with three hits, three runs, two stolen bases and an RBI.
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Orchard Park) had two hits, including a double, with three RBI.
Cameron Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had a pair of hits, including a two RBI double, while scoring twice.
Paige Ziggas (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) had two hits, two runs and two RBI.
Halle Book (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) also hit a two RBI double as part of her two-hit, three-run performance.
Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore),
Audrey Blarr (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) and
Isabelle Wakefield (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) also tallied a hit while
Hadley Horensky (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic),
Olivia Devries (Kent, Ohio/Field) and
Eva Dillaman (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) drove runs in.

Jordan Williams (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) struck out five without allowing an earned run for her first win.

GAME TWO - Allegheny 7, Gustavus Adolphus 0

After three-and-a-half scoreless innings, the Gators plated three runs in the fourth. Genareo led off the bottom of the fourth with a single up the middle.
Anna Castlevetere (Clarence, N.Y./Nardin Academy) entered as a pinch runner for Genareo. Osgood reached on an error and Wakefield loaded the bases with a single to the left field fence. An error on Devries' at-bat brought Castlevetere home before Belardinelli brought Osgood home on a sacrifice fly.Â

In the fifth with Long and Osgood on base via singles, Devries belted a three-run blast over the left center fence, extending the Gator lead to 6-0.

In the sixth, Ziggas led off with a single, followed by a hit by pitch and an error to load the bases. Osgood singled to center field to bring Ziggas across the plate.

Samantha Dzierba (Colden, N.Y./Orchard Park) earned her first win of the season, striking out six batters in seven shutout innings.Â

The Gators play their third doubleheader of the spring break trip Monday (March 21), facing off against Carleton and Hamline.
