MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's basketball team fell 72-56 to Denison in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup on Saturday (Feb. 19).
The Gators honored their three seniors in
Jordan Greynolds (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton),
Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) and
Josh Ratesic (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), who were all given posters prior to the game, and received standing ovations for their last time at James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena towards the end of the contest.
Although Allegheny trailed for the bulk of the game, it nearly matched Denison in the second half as the Big Red outscored the Gators 36-35. The Blue and Gold improved their shooting percentage from 29 percent in the first period to 40 percent in the second frame.
Overall, Roberts, Jr. paced all Allegheny scorers with 17, while
Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mount Lebanon (Pa.)) picked up his fourth consecutive double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-8 junior filled out the stat sheet as he compiled four assists and four steals — both team-highs. After Hinckley's performance tonight, the junior picked up 60th assist and 40th steal of the season.
Despite the loss, the Gators have earned their third straight playoff berth. Allegheny will be traveling on the road for its postseason matchups and are awaiting on their opponent as well as the time tip-off is slated for on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
