MEADVILLE, Pa. – Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone) led the Gators with a career-high 32 points as the Gators defeated Thiel 73-54 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home Saturday (Dec. 3).
The Gators got out to an early lead as a
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) three gave them a 7-3 lead before a Thiel timeout. Allegheny maintained their lead the rest of the quarter though Thiel ended on a 4-2 run. A Thiel three gave them their first lead of the game, 10-9, early in the second quarter, but the Gators answered with a 6-0 run to regain the lead. The Tomcats eventually regained the lead, 23-21, with two minutes remaining in the half. Lauer put the Gators back in front in the final thirty seconds as Allegheny took a 25-24 lead into the locker room.
In the opening half, Lauer led the Gators with 10 points while
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) scored eight.
Allegheny got off to a quick start in the second half, extending their lead to 34-24 with a 9-0 run. Lauer netted six of those points while Caldwell converted a traditional three-point play. A Thiel timeout failed to stop the run as it grew to 15-0 before Thiel scored in the quarter. For the quarter, Allegheny outscored Thiel 30-7 to take a 54-31 lead into the fourth.
The Gator offense continued to shine in the fourth, netting 19 points as they sealed the conference victory.
Inside the Box
- Lauer's 32 points came on 14-19 shooting (73.7%). She also just missed a double-double with nine rebounds in addition to three assists, two steals and a block.
- Caldwell also finished in double figures with 11 points to go alongside five rebounds.
- Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) tallied eight points, three assists and two rebounds.
- Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) added five rebounds and four blocks.
- Jasmyn Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) had six points with three assists.
- Kelsi Zik (Murrysville, Pa./Plum) had four points and a pair of rebounds.
- The Gators shot 32-74 (43.2%) from the field.

- The conference win moves the Gators to 4-1 on the season in PAC play.
- Allegheny is now 22-9 all-time against Thiel.
- The 30 points were the most points scored by the Gators in a quarter this season.
