Men's Basketball Falls to Geneva on the Road

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Four of Allegheny College's five starters scored in double figures on Wednesday night, but the Gators were defeated in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on the road by Geneva College, 85-69

The quartet of Preston Turk (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock), Ryan Lang (Sarver, Pa./Knoch), Andre Wilder (Beaver Falls, Pa./Lincoln Park), and Luke Barker (New Castle, Pa./Struthers (Ohio)) combined to score all but six points for the Gators (3-5, 2-2 PAC). They shot 49.1% (26-of-53) as a group, slightly higher than the team's total field-goal percentage of 44.6% (29-of-65).

Turk led all Allegheny shooters with a career-high 18 points, including a 3-for-6 effort from 3-point range. Lang netted 16 points, also a career-high for the first-year guard, who filled the stats sheet with eight rebounds, three assists, and a team-high three steals. Wilder scored 15 for the Gators, while Barker poured in 14 points.

The only starter not to score double digits was Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon (Pa.)), the reigning PAC Player of the Week, who contributed team highs in rebounds (9), blocks (4), and assists (4). The Golden Tornado (5-1, 3-1 PAC) defense performed well against the third-leading scorer in the conference and held Hinckley to four points on 2-of-8 shooting.

The star of the night for Geneva was the defending PAC Player of the Year, Lyle Tipton, who carried the Golden Tornadoes to victory with a game-high 35 points.
