MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's basketball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition at home against Westminster Wednesday (Nov. 16), falling to the Titans 62-42.
The Titans scored the first ten points of the game before Allegheny got on the board with an
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) jumper. Bella Weir (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) brought the lead down to 13-8 with a three-pointer minutes later. After exchanging baskets, a late field goal by Westminster gave them a 17-10 lead heading into the second quarter. In the second, the Titans lead grew to thirteen, but the Gators brought the lead back down to nine with a
Jasmyn Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) lay-up. The rest of the half was a defensive battle. A late layup by the Titans gave them a 30-19 halftime advantage.
After the Gators scored first in the third, the Titans went on an 8-0 run. They maintained that lead throughout the frame, taking a 45-30 lead into the final frame. Allegheny had their most prolific offensive output in the fourth quarter, producing 12 points. However, it was not enough to overcome the deficit as the Gators dropped their PAC opener.
