Dickinson Pulls Away in Second Half vs. Men's Basketball

CLEVELAND – Although the Allegheny College men's basketball team played to a 35-all tie against Dickinson College on Friday evening, the Red Devils pulled away in the second half en route to a 78-62 victory in the opening round of the Bill Sudeck Tournament.

The Gators (1-1) outshot the Red Devils (1-1) by a slim margin in the first half, but Dickinson came out of the locker room after the break and made 61.3% of its field goals (19-of-31) in the second half.

Down by as many as 12 points, 49-37, Allegheny came within one possession of tying the score on two occasions in the final nine minutes of the contest. The Gators went on a 7-2 run that ended with a Mike Noonan (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) 3-pointer and trimmed the deficit to 58-55. Approximately two minutes later, Noonan and Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon (Pa.)) netted four unanswered to bring AC with three points at 62-59.

Dickinson's defense clamped down from there and stifled any chances of an Allegheny comeback, as the Gators managed only three points in the final five minutes of regulation.
