ERIE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team returned home from a short trip to Erie, Pennsylvania, with a 9-0 victory over Penn State Behrend on Thursday.
The Gators (3-0) won their third consecutive fall dual match and earned their second shutout win, while snapping the Lions'Â (2-3) two-game win streak.Â
The singles matches were all won by Allegheny with relative ease. No Gator playing No. 2 through No. 6 singles lost more than two games in a set, while
Ethan Carr's (King of Prussia, Pa./Harriton) match at No. 1 ended with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
The doubles matches between Allegheny and PSUB were more competitive. Carr and
David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad and Tobago/Fatima College) doubled-up Penn State Behrend's top duo of Nadikude and Jonathon Laier, 8-4. At the No. 3 spot,
Will Jarvie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and
Evan Nelson (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) needed a tiebreak for an 8-7 (5) win over Mitchell May and Aidan Piazza.
