LATROBE, Pa. -- With a 9-0 victory over Saint Vincent College on Monday evening, the Allegheny College women's tennis team clinched the 2022 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular-season championship and hosting rights throughout the upcoming PAC Championships.
Voted the No. 1 team in the PAC preseason coaches poll, the Gators (11-0, 7-0 PAC) continued to roll through the conference with yet another overpowering performance. In three doubles matches, Allegheny lost only one game. In singles action, the Gators surrendered no more than two games in any set, losing only seven across all six matches.
Allegheny's second and third doubles teams both earned 8-0 victories over the Bearcats (5-5, 3-4 PAC). On the singles courts,Â
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) and reigning PAC Rookie of the Week,
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area), both swept their opponents without dropping a game.Â
