MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team suffered their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss of the season as they fell in four sets to Chatham (25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24) Tuesday (Oct. 25).
The Cougars got out to an early lead in the first set as the Gators called a timeout trailing 7-3. That lead held as the Gators were unable to bounce back in the set, dropping it 25-19.
The early portion of the second set saw the teams trade the lead back-and-forth several times until Chatham rattled off a 3-0 run to move ahead, 13-10. The Gators battled back as a pair of kills by
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) brought the score to 18-17 Chatham, prompting a timeout from the visitors. A block by McCruter and
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) tied it at 18 before Allegheny scored the next three points to take a 21-18 lead. Up 24-23,
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) ended the set with a kill, tying the match at one set apiece.
Similar to the opening set, the Cougars got out to an early lead which held in the set, winning it 25-17 to move ahead 2-1.
The Gators started out strong in the third set, taking a 10-6 lead. The Gators defense held tough as they tallied six blocks in the set, with McCruter accounting for five of them. The Cougars tied the set late at 22 apiece. After trading points, an ace gave the Cougars a match point, 24-23. A kill by
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) staved off the first match point, however, the Cougars scored the ensuing two points to win the match.

- Chambers led the Gators with 15 kills while Crum had 12.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 23 assists while Leah Ungashick (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) tallied 12.
- Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) had 24 digs while Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) added 20.
- McCruter ended with eight blocks while Wilson and Javes had four apiece.

- The Gators are now 3-2 all-time against Chatham.
- Allegheny is now 7-1 in the PAC.
