MEADVILLE, Pa. -- On the night the Allegheny College women's soccer team recognized the Class of 2023, Franciscan University played spoiler, as the Barons defeated the Gators by a 2-0 score at the Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday.

In a pregame ceremony, the Gators (3-9-4, 2-5-2 PAC) honored its graduating class, which included seniors Autumn Wittebort (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), Natasha Rosa (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing), Lilly Noel (Shepherdstown, W.Va./St. James), Allie Peasley (Douglas, Wyo./Douglas), Sarah DeGrendel (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek), and Abby Waryanka (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland).

Allegheny took the first two shots of the opening half, which came from seniors Waryanka and Noel, but the quick start was thwarted by a consistent attack from the Barons (11-4-2, 7-1-2 PAC). Franciscan finished with a significant lead in shots, 26-to-6, but the Barons were held scoreless for the first 54:53 thanks to a great effort from Kari May (Erie, Pa./McDowell) in goal.

In the 55th and 73rd minutes, Franciscan received goals from Claire Salyer and Anni Winogradoff. Trailing by two, the Gators were only able to muster one more shot in the remaining 27 minutes.
