Game Recap: Field Hockey |

First-Place DePauw Defeats Field Hockey, 3-0

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Allegheny College field hockey team suffered a 3-0 defeat on the road Sunday against DePauw University in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action at Reavis Stadium.

The Gators (11-3, 2-2 NCAC) couldn't solve a Tiger (9-4, 5-0 NCAC) defense that hasn't allowed a goal in its last three games and has surrendered only one goal throughout its current six-game win streak. Allegheny attempted fewer shots, but the offense was awarded twice as many short corners (10-to-5) and the Gators played a few minutes with a woman-advantage after DePauw was tagged with several cards in the fourth quarter.

DePauw took the lead in the first quarter with two goals in quick succession, although Allegheny was first to put a shot on goal. A few moments after the first penalty corner of the game, Debbie Nalesnik (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) deflected a ball towards the left post that was kicked away by goalie Bella Lauber.

Inside the Box Score
  • Five of Allegheny's nine shots were on goal.
  • DePauw took 11 shots with eight on target.
  • The Gators finished with twice as many penalty corners, 10-to-5.
  • Bella Cowen (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) was responsible for four of AC's shots.
  • Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) finished with five saves and three goals allowed.
