PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Allegheny volleyball team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-15) nonconference shutout at La Roche on Wednesday evening.
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) led all players with 12 kills in 16 attempts for a .750 attack percentage.
Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) and
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) tied for second on the squad with six kills apiece.
Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) handed out 10 assists to lead the team, while
Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) dished out seven of her own.
Defensively,
Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) posted a match-high 11 digs and Wilson notched seven of her own. McCruter was in on four blocks to lead the way, including one solo, while Crum and
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) each had a pair.
The Gators will be back in action this weekend at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, playing three matches as part of the "Battle at the Point," annual volleyball challenge between the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Allegheny's first match will be at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10 when it competes against Saint Mary's (Ind.).
