SANDUSKY, Ohio -- The Allegheny volleyball team swept St. Mary's (Ind.) during their opening match of the Battle of the Point Friday (Sept. 10).
 
The Battle of the Point is a crossover tournament featuring the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
 
The Gators won the sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21.  The win moves the Gators' record to 4-2 this season, and marked their third straight victory.
 
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) led the team with a season-best 17 kills.  
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) was also in double-digits with 10 kills.  
Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) tallied seven kills.  
Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had a team-high 24 assists while 
Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) recorded 10.
 
Defensively, 
Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) had a season-best 23 digs to lead the way. Besch also led the team with a pair of aces.  Wilson finished with 10 digs.
 
The Gators return to action tomorrow with match-ups against Kalamazoo and Olivet.
