MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny field hockey team took the Blue Turf at the Robertson Athletic Complex for the first time in the 2021 season as they hosted Wittenberg Saturday (Sept. 25) in nonconference action.

After a scoreless 60 minutes, the Gators found the back of the net in the opening 30 seconds of overtime to pick up the 1-0 victory. The win brings Allegheny to a 3-3 mark on the season.

The Gators needed just 18 seconds in the extra session to score the golden goal.Â
Kinsley Greenlaw (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) found
Kelsey Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) running down the far side who got the shot past the goalie for the win. The goal was Anderson's second of the season.

Allegheny controlled the pace of play throughout regulation, out shooting the Tigers 19-12. Of the 19 shots, 10 were on target for the Gators.Â
Ramsay Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) had three shots on goal while
Ella O'Connor (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) and
Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Day School) had two apiece.

Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) picked up her third win of the season in net, tallying eight saves.

The Gators are back in action Wednesday (Sept. 29) when they host Oberlin in nonconference play.
